Mt Colvin and Blake Peak Hike-Adirondack 46ers-January 15, 2023

Mt Colvin and Blake Peak-January 15, 2023-Elevation Gain: 4050'-Distance: 16.2 Miles

Trails Used: Ausable Club Road, Indian Head Trail, Colvin Trail

My father and I wanted to get some Adirondack 46ers in the bag. Having 11 left before this hike, we want to finish them by the summer of 2023. We both thought that this would be perfect to do in the winter because the Ausable Mountain Club Road to the trailhead is easily skiable in the winter.

We made the 90-minute drive to the trailhead and began our long hike. We skied into the start of the Indian Head Trail and stashed our skis to begin the long trek. We quickly hiked to the summit of the Indian Head and descended down to the Elk Pass Trail. The .7 to the Colvin trail felt like it took forever due to all of the winter gear in my pack. From there, we began the strenuous climb to the summit of Mt Colvin.

We quickly descended to our skis and covered the last 4 miles out in an hour with our skis. This was one of the most beautiful hikes in the Adirondacks I have ever done and the weather was perfect.
